The main objective of the Department of Cell Dynamics and Signaling is to understand the mechanisms that ensure normal cell function and tissue homeostasis. It studies key processes such as cell differentiation, migration, division and death, as well as tissue and organ morphogenesis, whose alteration is related to pathologies such as cancer and degenerative diseases. The deregulation of cell division, death and differentiation, together with the migratory and invasive capacity of tumour cells, are classic features of cancer. The department investigates how internal and external signals integrate to regulate these processes, both under normal and pathological conditions, in order to identify effective therapeutic targets to combat these diseases.
