His laboratory has identified new factors that determine the choice between different DNA repair pathways and is working to translate this basic knowledge into a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in disease.
He has received awards such as the Manuel Losada Villasante Prize for Scientific Research, is the author of numerous publications in high-impact international journals, and is actively involved in training young researchers and in scientific outreach.

José Carlos Reyes Rosa is a Scientific Researcher at the CSIC and currently Scientific Director of the Andalusian Centre for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER). He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Seville (1994) and completed his training with postdoctoral fellowships at the Pasteur Institute (Paris) and the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, USA).
Throughout his career, he has led research projects focused on epigenetics and gene expression, with special emphasis on chromatin remodellers, the three-dimensional organisation of the genome and the regulatory mechanisms involved in human diseases such as cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders.
He is the author of more than 75 publications in high-impact international journals and has been recognised as one of the top 2% most cited researchers worldwide. He has supervised numerous doctoral theses, participates in national and international scientific evaluation committees, and maintains a strong commitment to scientific training and dissemination.
At CABIMER, he promotes excellence in research aimed at understanding the fundamental mechanisms that regulate the genome, with the aim of contributing to biomedical advances and improving health.

Pilar Cebolla Ramírez has been Manager of the Andalusian Centre for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER) since August 2017. She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Seville and has specialised training in management and leadership: a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the School of Industrial Organisation, a Senior Management Programme from the San Telmo International Institute and training in Leadership from the Pablo de Olavide University.
With more than twenty years of experience, she has developed an extensive career in strategic, financial and human resources management, both in the financial sector (SAFEI and BBVA) and in the biotechnology field. She was a partner and member of the Board of Directors of Biomedal and Ingeniatrics, where she held executive positions, including General Manager of Biomedal USA in New Jersey and General Manager of Ingeniatrics.
At CABIMER, she leads the centre’s economic, administrative and organisational management, promoting research excellence and strengthening the transfer of knowledge to society. Committed to dissemination and gender equality in science and technology, she participates in initiatives such as Ciencia y Tecnología en Femenino (Science and Technology in Feminine), bringing research closer to the public and motivating new generations of students.
